Mary Margaret Elam is a multifaceted individual, known for her precocious nature and childlike wonderment. She is not just a singer, but also an actress, dancer, and even an aspiring cowboy.
Mary Margaret began her professional career upon graduating high school by sneaking out on a school night, against her parent's wishes, to attend an audition for a National Tour. A month later, she got the call that she would be going on tour, where she would perform to thousands of audiences all over the country.
Amidst the Broadway shutdown due to COVID-19, Mary Margaret returned home and faced a period of reassessment. Undeterred, she continued to perform in socially distanced Regional Theatre productions at The Wayne Theatre.
In her free time, she decided to go back to school. She had to determine if she wanted to major in Musical Theatre or another discipline. After seeing so many of her friends scared and struggling during the Pandemic, she decided to design her own major instead. She is now a James Madison University Graduate with a Major in BioMedical Management and Innovation, where she pursued her passion for medicine and collaborated with research teams on her Thesis: RecycleRx, a pharmaceutical initiative for recycling medicine. When not in school or performing, she works as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant at the Children's Hospital in Staunton and as a Calculus Tutor. She also volunteers with A Moment of Magic, a JMU non-profit that helps fight against pediatric cancer. She is also multitasking her profession in the arts while pursuing her RN (Registered Nursing License).
But don't be fooled. Even though she pursued her academic passions in school, she also filled her time auditing Musical Theatre, Voice, and Dance classes. She also takes weekly voice lessons with Haley Amber Husdon, a student and graduate of the esteemed Matthew Edwards at Shenandoah University. She attends ballet, tap, and jazz classes at The Dance Cooperative in Harrisonburg, VA!
Mary Margaret's tenacity in pursuing theatre amidst her other passions is a testament to her deep love for the arts and the community they foster. This love is one that she will always cherish, no matter what life may bring.
To God be the Glory!
